“CPSA calls for a bi-partisan approach on aged care quality. Our politicians must do three things and do them now:
1. Ditch paper-based ‘fake’ aged care audits
2. Audit nursing homes based on residents’ health checks
3. Financially penalise and/or close down nursing homes that fail ‘real’ audits.”
“Unless these three things are done, the frail elderly will continue to be assaulted and neglected in Australia’s nursing homes. They will continue to die as a direct consequence of assaults and neglect and many will die prematurely”, said CPSA Policy Coordinator, Paul Versteege.
