CPSA will be in Canberra on Budget night to provide comment on measures affecting pensioners and retirees, particularly those on low to mid incomes.
CPSA expects significant additional funding to wipe out waiting list for Home Care Packages, but will be watching how the additional workforce required for this will be sourced and trained.
CPSA is pessimistic about a Budget measure that would increase the Newstart and related allowances, and will have a perspective on how keeping the Newstart allowance where it is affects the life of an increasing number of people between 50 and pension age, particularly if the Government’s plan to increase the pension age to 70 isn’t ditched.
