About our health education program

The Health Promotion Service for Older People (HPSOP) is a community-based health education program which provides free health education sessions to seniors in NSW. Established in 1991, HPSOP is funded by NSW Health through the Western Sydney Local Health District.

The aim of this program is to promote community awareness about health issues to seniors. The service provides education on a range of health-related topics of particular relevance to the elderly.

Our Volunteer Peer Educators are trained to deliver one-hour health education sessions on each of these topics, both in person and via online Zoom sessions. Our educators are from both English speaking as well as culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, with sessions presented in English and 10 community languages.
